Tournament Description A multi-sport tournament for Western Hemisphere countries held every four years, in the year preceding the Olympic Games. The US Pan American Games team and the sports represented there are fielded under the auspices of the US Olympic Committee, the organization responsible for full funding for each of the sport teams. No more than two individuals from a country are allowed to compete in the individual competitions in each of the six weapons. For the four team competitions, a country may only bring three fencers for that team competition, of which two will be those fencing in the individual competition. Eligibility and Selection Criteria The 2006 Pan American Zonal Championships will be the basis for qualifying for the 2007 Pan American Games in accordance with the results of the individual and team competitions. The team to the Pan American Games will consist of 3 fencers in Men’s Epee, Men’s Saber, Women’s Foil, and Women’s Saber; and 2 fencers in Men’s Foil and Women’s Epee. Each individual, for competition in Individual Events where there is also a Team Event competition (Men’s and Women’s Saber, Men’s Epee, Women’s Foil), will be selected from the members of the team for the team competitions.
