FIE Announces World Championship Host Cities

During the Federation Internationale d’Escrime Congress in Rome over the weekend, the FIE announced locations for Senior, Junior, Cadet and Veteran World Championship events over the next three years.

In 2015, the Junior and Cadet World Championships will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Veteran Worlds were awarded to Limoges, France. As previously announced in 2013, the 2015 Senior Worlds will be held in Moscow.

The 2016 Senior Team World Championships will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The tournament will serve as a test event for the facilities that will be used for the Olympic Games in Rio. Also in 2016, the Junior and Cadet Worlds will be fenced in Bourges France and Veteran World Team members will travel to Stralsund, Germany.

Germany also will be home to the 2017 Senior Worlds in Leipzig. The Veteran Worlds that year will take place in Maribor, Slovenia.

Additional details on all events will be announced at a later date.
