Junior Olympic Withdrawals Due to Flight Cancellations

Due to the storms in much of the country, USA Fencing will refund event fees for those individuals whose flights have been cancelled and will be unable to attend their scheduled event at the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships in Portland, Ore. this weekend.

Participants are asked to contact NationalEvents@usfencing.org by no later than 11:59 Pacific Time on Feb. 19. Please include in your e-mail proof of flight cancellation as well as the athlete name and which event(s) from which you are withdrawing.  

Please note: This process is for event fees only, not registration fees which are non-refundable.

Refunds will be processed 4‐6 weeks after the conclusion of the Junior Olympics. 

Entrants List Status

I am appearing on the Entrants list as “Registered” for some of my events but not all - why?
As the indivdiual events at JO's require qualification, your status will appear as “Registered” until your entry has been confirmed (“Approved”).  Once your entry has been confirmed, the system will generate an email updating you on the change in entry status.


Important Dates

All entries must be received by the posted deadlines no later than 11:59:59 PM Pacific Time.

Check-in times are posted approximately one week after the regular fee entry deadline.

Withdraw

All withdraws must be received by the USFA by the posted withdraw deadline for a refund of event fees for individual and half the event fee for teams.

Withdraw through your membership profile under "Competition Schedule" or by written notification via e-mail to Amanda Ward.  No refunds will be given for withdraws after the posted withdraw deadline. Refunds are processed 4-6 weeks after the tournament.

Open to any athlete who is a current competitive member of the USFA in good standing with an expiration of 7/31/2014 or later.  All athletes must be US Citizens or Permanent residents who have not represented another country in the last 3 years.

Athletes must be age eligibility

Junior, Cadet: No Classification requirements; qualification is required.
Junior Team: No Classification or qualification requirements. Team members competing ONLY in the Team competition must submit a NAC Individual Team Registration Entry Form or register online with payment of the registration fee.

  • All Club Teams and team members must be current club and competitive USFA members respectively.
  • No more than three teams per USFA member club per event will be allowed to enter. 
  • Members of the team must have represented the Club at a competition during the current season. 

JUNIOR
Fencers must meet age eligibility AND BE

  • on the Junior NRPS^ at the regular fee entry deadline for this tournament OR
  • in the top 16 of the Cadet NRPS at the regular fee entry deadline for this tournament OR
  • in the top 25% (see Table 2.7.4.1 in Chapter 2 .7) in their Division’s Junior J.O. qualifying competition

^ Points will be awarded for places 33-64 at Senior, Junior and Cadet NACs and Championships if there are at least 160 fencers in the competition. These points will be used for seeding national competitions. In order to be considered on the point standings for the purposes of selection or qualification for each category there must be at least one top 32 result and the total points must be at least: 275 for senior; 165 for junior; 110 for cadet.

CADET
Fencers must meet age eligibility 
AND BE

  • on the Cadet NRPS^ at the regular fee entry deadline for this tournament OR
  • in the top 8 of the Youth 14 NRPS at the regular fee entry deadline for this tournament OR
  • in the top 25% (see Table 2.7.4.1 in Chapter 2 .7) in their Division’s Cadet J.O. qualifying competition OR
  • qualified for the Junior JO Championships [BOD, October 2004].  Junior event must be held first.
